Home Alone with Elf

'Elf' and 'Home Alone' nails!
These are two of my favourite Christmas movies which I watch every year at Christmas time. I was actually watching Elf whilst painting these.
So for my left hand I have the Elf title and Buddy the elf spread along the rest of my nails. Then on my right hand I have the Home Alone title on the thumb and some of the traps which Kevin lays out; these are a tarantula, paint cans, broken Christmas tree decorations and the burning hot door handle with the letter 'M' on it.
Looking forward to watching these again next Christmas along with some of my other favourites like National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, Scrooged, How the Grinch Stole Christmas (original cartoon version) and The Nightmare Before Christmas. Maybe I'll choose a couple of these to paint on my nails next time...

Festive jumpers

By the time I painted these it was around early December so a perfect time to start on the festive designs. At the time I was searching for fun festive jumpers to add to my collection so I decided to draw some designs I wanted on my nails.
I have a reindeer, a Christmas tree pattern, a gingerbread man, a blue white and red fairisle pattern and a glittery snowflake on my left hand. Then a 'Ho ho ho' in glitter, candy cane stripes, a snowman, red and cream patterns and a penguin in a scarf and hat on my right hand.
Although I didn't actually find a jumper I wanted in the end, I still had an awesome Christmas season wrapped up warm. Hopefully I'll find exactly what I'm looking for next Christmas...

And the Oscar goes to...

Every year for the last few years I have enjoyed staying up late to watch the Academy Awards. So this year I decided to celebrate it with my nail art as well.
I have 'The 85th Oscars' title in gold on a black and glitter base, an envelope on a gold glitter base, an Oscar statue on the red carpet, a tuxedo and the E! channel logo on my left hand. Then a make-up brush on pink glitter, Kate Winslet's 2002 Oscar dress (my personal favourite over the years), a film strip countdown, a camera and a clapperboard on my right hand.
I included the make-up brush on there as that is the award I look forward to the most. Maybe one day it'll be my name called out (I can dream).
Looking forward to seeing all the beautiful dresses on the red carpet and finding out all the award winners. My money's on Lincoln cleaning the board, although there could easily be a few surprises. Hoping The Hobbit wins Best Make-up and Hairstyling but we shall see...
Happy viewing to all those watching along!

Valentine tattoos

Not only was it Valentines Day this week, it was also the Brighton Tattoo Convention so I thought I'd combine the two on my nails.
Started off with a nude base coat on all my nails - my lovely Revlon in Grey Suede. Then painted all the shapes on before doing the black outline and shading to look like tattoos. Have started using a very fine paintbrush, as opposed to the brushes on my nail art pens, as I get much finer detail with it.
So here I have cupid with bow and arrow, a heart with 'love' scroll over it, a heart with wings, a heart with a lock and a heart key. Then on the other hand a number 14, a heart with sword through it, a heart and crossbones, heart cherries and a cupcake with heart decoration.
Had a fun time at the convention, although I much prefer the London convention as they have more of a variety of artists and entertainment acts. One thing I did enjoy was going back to JB's diner for an awesome American style milkshake and hotdog:

YUM!!

Winter warmer

Outdoors and indoors winter nails. Painted these just as it was beginning to get super cold last November. Wasn't quite ready for festive Christmas nails so thought I'd create a little winter scene across one hand.
For the outdoor hand I have a snowman, snow covered trees, an ice-skater, a sledger and snow fall as one whole scene going across the hand.
Then the indoor hand is a wooly hat, a wooly scarf, a window looking out into the snow, a mug of hot chocolate and a nice hot fireplace.

Vampire vs Werewolf

Halloween 2012 nails!
Wanted to do something a bit more specific for Halloween this year so I decided to do creatures of the night. Classic Hollywood monsters, the vampire and the werewolf.
For the vampire nails I have the fangs, bats, bites, garlic and a crucifix. Then for the werewolf ones a silver bullet, fur, a yellow eye, a howling wolf and a wide open jaw.
The wolf jaw looks a bit wonky as I accidentally knocked it when the top coat was still wet but I think it adds to the movement of the mouth.

Dressed as Little Red Riding Hood just after a fight with the wolf for our annual Halloween house party (make-up applied by myself using sculpting wax and fake blood, 3 years of uni finally paying off):

What's not in the pic is my little basket with a wolf head in it. (Was actually a random dog head slipper which I found but it worked just as well).

Tattoo convention

Created on 28th September 2012.
This is the first time I have ever repeated any of my nail art designs as I usually like to come up with a new, creative theme every week. However as I was going to the London Tattoo convention this week I decided I should repeat the tattoo nails but with a few different designs. These are also much more colourful than the original ones.
Here I have a Day of the Dead skull, a rose, a swallow, a nautical star with lots of mini stars, a heart, a number 13, an anchor, ivy vines (the same design I have tattooed on my leg), cherries and a butterfly.
Unfortunately they came out a bit smudged as my black went a bit gloopy so it smudged when I applied the top coat. Think the colour and shading came out nicely though.

Had an awesome time at the convention and even saw Miami Ink and New York Ink's Ami James inking away:

Looking forward to the Brighton tattoo convention now. Might even get myself a new tattoo while I'm there!

What is best in life...

The Arnie nails are finally here!
Been wanting to do these for a while but couldn't decide exactly how I was going to do them until now. These are very special to me because not only is Mr. Schwarzenegger one of my all time favourite actors but we also share a birthday.
Each of these nails contain a different Arnie film. Instead of describing which is which I'm going to leave it up to you, the reader, to see if you can guess all ten. If you're dying to know you can always drop me a message in the comments box below, although true Arnie fans should get them all.
One thing I will say, the Mr Freeze came out looking a bit like a Transformer but that adds to the humour I think.
Also there are of course more than ten awesome Arnie films but I couldn't fit them all on, maybe I can include them in a possible future sequel...
Here's a link to the 160 Greatest Arnold Schwarzenegger Quotes which I love to watch on a regular basis just to get my fix of awesome: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pDxn0Xfqkgw
Happy viewing and I hope you enjoy!
